Black Panther: Wakanda Forever | Adidas Innovation
In 2020, Adidas Innovation was approached by Disney/Marvel Studios and renowned Oscar-winning costume designer Ruth Carter about collaborating on the second film in the Black Panther film franchise. The team pitched a variety of key costumes for the lead female characters, inspired by the rich storytelling of Carter and director Ryan Coogler.
A number of the final costumes can be seen in the film on main character Shuri, warrior Okoye and young Riri. The team coordinated with a local Portland atelier to deliver over 100 garments to the Marvel team in under six months. The film went on to receive the 2023 Oscar award for best costume design.
